Adopt Me!

The Aspen Animal Shelter is proud to be a privatized, no-kill shelter. The shelter provides a sanctuary for the homeless dogs and cats of Aspen and Pitkin County, the occasional bird or rabbit as well. Every pet is neutered and vaccinated prior to adoption.

Below you'll find some of our four-legged pets looking for homes. Remember, in addition to adopting these wonderful companions, you can always swing by and take a dog for a walk. It's a great way to enjoy the company of a dog and give him some exercise and socialization. You can also hang out in the cat room and play with the kitties. Billy
Billy is a 2.5-year-old Staffordshire Terrier male. He is super friendly with a very happy personality. He is completely outgoing and affectionate. Typical of his breed he is very strong and could probably use some leash training. Billy has only just arrived at the shelter but he seems terrific with other dogs and quite playful. All you have to do is look at Billy and he will make you smile due to his bubbly personality.

Adopt PepperPepper
Pepper is a ten-and-a-half-year-old black Labrador female. She is great with people but so far not so good with other dogs. Even though she is an older dog, she has a lot of energy. She needs and would love daily exercise. Recently turned in from her longtime home, Pepper is a bit stressed out right now and would really appreciate some loving attention and a walk.

Adopt MindyMindy
Mindy is a nine-year-old Husky mix female. She is a retired sled dog. She is very friendly and greets everyone with an adorable howl. Mindy is beautiful with a gentle personality. With some socialization, she will become a wonderful companion.

Adopt Us!Alex, Romeo and Tortie
These three adorable kitties are about three-and-a-half months old and were feral when they came to us. Romeo is an orange male tabby who is becoming socialized quickly. He will let you pick him up and pet him. He loves Hocus (see below). Alex is a grey and black tabby and is fearful of people. Tortie is a Calico and is still the most feral. With time these beautiful cats will all become socialized.

Adopt BubblesBubbles
Bubbles is one big gray-boy “classic” tabby as well, and like the other multi-striped denizens as good-natured and agreeable as he can be. He came from the Twining Flats area just west of town in late October. For a male in an unfamiliar environment, he’s another sweetheart and would be a lovely companion at day’s end. Four-year-old male.

Adopt LionheartLionheart
Lionheart is a 4-year-old male who was found abandoned outside our shelter in October. He’s a fine-sized, gorgeous taffy-hued fellow— very receptive to humans, not particularly so to his shelter mates. Lionheart is easygoing and loves to be petted, but would be best if he could have ‘solo’ privileges in his new home.
